AIV Courses

Refresher weeks (mandatory)

This course takes place during the first four weeks of the AIV M1 program.
An individual oral exam tests the student's ability to integrate concepts presented during each course.

Computational Biology

Teachers: Russ Harmer, Gregory Batt, Vincent Danos, Samuel Bottani, Jerome Feret and Jean Krivine

Using novel experimental techniques, quantitative data can be obtained on the functioning of biological systems at the molecular level. The complete exploitation of this novel information on system dynamics requires a mode-based approach: models are proposed, analyzed and compared with respect to experimental data. Using models, various assumptions on biological mechanisms can be corroborated or invalidated by the experimental data on a rational basis. Experimentally-validated models can then be used to make novel predictions or orient system design.

Experimental Methods for Quantitative Biology

Teachers: A. Boudaoud, F. Carlier Grynkorn, P. Hersen, M. Le Berre, M. Lounaci, A. Paoletti, M. Piel, G. Romet-Lemonne, D. Tareste, P. Tran and G. Velve Casquillas

Statistics for Systems Biology

This course deals with statistical models used in biology, from simple models (variance analysis and regression) to more complex models allowing the analysis of discrete data (generalized linear model), correlated measurements (mixed linear model), or multivariate measurements (manova, discriminant analysis).

Disciplinary Strengthening

Students wishing to acquire or strengthen a specific knowledge can participate in external modules organized in the Paris region in exchange with (or in addition to) one of the Master's courses or internships.
This choice of alternative/additional courses has to be discussed with the Master's teachers.
