*François Taddei est directeur de recherche à l'Inserm (biologie des systèmes), spécialiste reconnu de l'évolution et militant des approches interdisciplinaires. Il participe également à différents groupes de travail sur l'avenir de la recherche et de l'éducation (« France 2025 », rapport OCDE...)

Curious about neurosciences or cognitive sciences ?
Don't hesitate to join us for this day of workshop around a multi-scale approach of cognition from single neurons manipulation to complex networks modelization !
We will discuss very diverse topics from the role of the cannabinoid receptor to modelization of language learning. You will discover how we can build complex neuronal networks in vitro or in silico, what is the critic role of astrocytes in our brain and many other things.
Moreover we have the pleasure and honour to welcome Stella de Bode from University of California, Los Angeles who will talk about "Post Cerebral Hemispherectomy: From Equipotentiality to Irreversible Lateralization of Language".

Some background on our guest:
In 2008, Faisal Aldaye became a research fellow with Professor Pamela Silver at the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, where he is applying the principles of DNA nanotechnology to solve problems in a practical way.
He is also a member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry and his Ph.D. in DNA nanotechnology from McGill University.
His achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the IUPAC Prize for Young Chemists and the Governor General's Gold Medal.
He currently holds an NSERC Doctoral award, given to researchers who have demonstrated superior competence and outstanding productivity.

Camille Delebecque et Xavier Duportet, deux doctorants Frontières du Vivant fondateurs d'Omeecs, start up en biologie synthétique viennent d'être déclarés lauréats du Young Entrepreneurs Initiative 2011.

Porteurs du projet Omeecs, Xavier Duportet (Master AIV 2009, lauréat IGEM 2010, Doctorant FdV 2010) et Camille Delebecque (Master AIV 2008, doctorant FdV 2009) ont atteint la finale du 'Concours de Création d'Entreprises de Biotechnologies pour l'environnement, l'agronomie et l'industrie' organisé par le Bioparc Génopole avec leur projet de "start-up" de biologie synthétique autour de la conception de nouveaux antifongiques à partir de champignons.
Ce projet de start up Omeecs leur vaut également aujourd'hui d'être lauréats du concours « Young Entrepreneurs Initiative » 2011 organisé par l'Ambassade de France aux Etats Unis.
Xavier Duportet et Camille Delebecque sont deux ingénieurs agronomes diplomés d'AgroParisTech ayant suivi le Master Approches Interdisciplinaires du Vivant (AIV) et aujourd'hui doctorants en biologie synthétique :
- Xavier Duportet en co-supervision entre le Massachussets Institute of Technology à Cambridge et l'INRIA à Paris Rocquencourt;
- Camille Delebecque en co-supervision entre la Harvard Medical School à Boston et l'INSERM à Paris.
Tous deux effectuent leur thèse scientifique à l'Ecole Doctorale 474 interdisciplinaire Frontières du Vivant (FdV).

Speaker François Taddei trained as a biologist and is a researcher at INSERM.
He also holds the position of Head of the interdisciplinary (M2) master program for life sciences, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris 7 University and Paris 5 Universities, and is the Founder of the Paris Interdisciplinary college (Faculty of Medecine, Paris 5), the "Festival de sciences Paris-Montagne" and the Founder of the interdisciplinary graduate school: life frontiers.
He is the author of an OECD's report "Training creative and collaborative knowledge-builders: a major challenge for 21st century education"
